EU Inc matters for the future of AI

EU has recently weakened the proposed EU Inc and how that positions EU in the AI era.

EU Inc's post on the progress of the talks on the proposed corporate entity:

After two years of campaigning, recent negotiations are taking EU Inc in the wrong direction. Currently the core of EU Inc is being stripped away: free choice of registration and a common stock option framework to attract talent (among many other aspects). Without it, it’s questionable what’s left that will make it a standard.

The EU needs a simpler, cross-border and investment-friendly corporate entity to let AI startups flourish and remain competitive. That is what EU Inc is all about. Delaware's success has demonstrated that convergence around one legal framework reduces uncertainty and transaction costs for companies, investors and courts. It's not a coincidence that more than two-thirds of the Fortune 500 are incorporated there.

This is crucial for the EU’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, which is central to its economic development and also directly related to AI. The EU’s role should go beyond regulation and general oversight. It should provide the best possible conditions for AI startups and AI-enabled businesses to grow.

And this is not about antagonism for the sake of dominance over others. It's about enabling the EU to claim its seat at the table as an equal in shaping the future of AI for the benefit of all humanity.

There’s little time left for the EU’s leaders to change course and reconsider.
