Hello world ...again.

A few words about this site and it's goals.

One More Time

I've been thinking about building a personal site for a very long time. This is actually my second. The old one no longer exists, and that’s fine. I want this to be a fresh start.

I thought it might be useful to briefly share a few of the reasons and motivations behind this site, along with some guiding principles I plan to follow. If you don’t really care about all that, no worries. Feel free to skip this post and enjoy the rest of the content.

Human After All

We live in a world where practically anything you come across could be AI-generated, so you might as well assume that anything you read on this site could be the result of a prompt.

I’m intentionally not going to use AI to write any of the posts on this site. In fact, that’s one of the most important reasons I created it.

I work daily on projects that are either directly or indirectly related to artificial intelligence. I use AI to write code, do research, design, plan, and most importantly, learn. For me, this is by far the most exciting (and scary) era to be alive and create. In that context, I think it's more important and fun to have more sites were the content is written by humans.

Any exceptions? Yes. Although I’ve been speaking and writing in English since I was 7 (I was born in 1981), I’m not a native speaker. For that reason, I’m might selectively use AI strictly for proofreading, to spare you grammatical and syntax errors. The site’s code is also generated with the help of LLMs.

Doin' it Right

Taking the time to write about a topic pushes me to think harder and distill vague ideas into something I can be more confident about and revisit later. It takes time. It’s hard and laborious, but like a good workout session, you’re glad you chose not to skip it.

In the same way physical exercise helps you stay mentally agile, I believe taking the time to write and keep a journal is more necessary than ever, especially now that we tend to offload so much of our thinking to LLMs.

I could keep this journal private, but making it public somehow motivates me to be stricter about what I write and how I filter my thoughts.

The thought of anyone finding the content of this site useful in any way makes me happy. I can’t thank enough the people who posted something that helped me fix a bug, learn a new skill, take action, or form an opinion on a subject I care about.

Around the World

This site is going to be the place where the bulk of posts will live and I'll be using social media to announce new posts, discuss ideas, get feedback, and connect with others. If you prefer you can also get notified using the site's RSS, Atom or JSON feeds.

Thanks for reading!
